the Perch
in progress
An architectural gem in Austin’s Judge's Hill neighborhood, designed by Charles Granger in the 1930s, the stilted building is literally perched in the treetops, whose leaves carry the expansive views outside the unit's wraparound windows. The Perch operates as Benjamin Stelly’s design homebase, a studio, creative laboratory, and design workshop all in one. Landmarked and full of inspiration, its history is baked not only into the physical space, but into the spirit of what is produced from it. Photograph by Leonid Furmansky.
