Rainey
Overlooking the waterfront in Austin’s historic Rainey Street district, this whitebox apartment transformed into an homage to the beauty of the natural world, and an ode to the virtuosity of local Texas craftsmanship. Completed on an expedited timeline, the 1,221 sq ft space prioritized a series of astute design choices. Modern furnishings integrate with vintage and antique objects, and material expression became an ongoing cue: Textural lime-wash colored walls, custom patchwork upholstery and charmeuse hemp silk window treatments, site-specific maple shelving with exposed endgrain by Austin’s Growler Domestics, and multi-media artworks by Katheryn Brolin and San Antonio-born artist Leroy Winter. As a first-time residence, the relaxed but imaginative home evokes a lived-in familiarity, bringing the client’s creativity to life through precise and highly personalized interiors.
