lafayette

This special Austin project is a home born of collaborative, deeply personal, and boldly experimental design transformations. The clapboard bungalow’s disconnected layout became a flowing sequence of contrastingly intimate and open spaces, with layers of color, texture and personal artworks and artifacts throughout. Heirloom designs, reclaimed materials, custom interventions and contemporary collectibles intermingle—an ’80s black Cipollino marble table, bar stations won at a New Orleans auction, Round Top-sourced mixed-matched seating—yielding a collective interior that balances European references with a distinctly Texan sensibility. The home is made complete by its artworks: Paintings by its artist client share space with works from the couple’s’ extended arts community, whom the home was designed, from the start, to be shared with. Photography by Robert Gomez, Leonid Furmansky, Chanti Rivera.
